Résumé

Several concepts born from information and signal theory, some older and others much more recent, are about to revolutionize the way mobile communications networks (4G, Wimax++ etc.) are being designed. Among these concepts, some directly impact the design of several layers, including the physical layer and protocol layer for multiple access. The goal is to combine all possible sources of diversity in order to improve system performance in terms of capacity or coverage.



During this seminar day, we will be emphasizing recent and important progress in the domain of MIMO systems, in particular in the multi-user mode of communications. Advantages and differences with conventional MIMO techniques will be addressed. as well as system design issues. We will also touch on certain techniques using cooperation and relaying as a means to complement multi-antenna diversity.



A series of talks are programmed, ranging from information theory to algorithms, from tutorials to very recent results.



The seminar is open to anyone, researchers, academics, and industry representative willing to participate into the debate, on topics among the hottest in wireless communications.
